Building relationships with our staffing vendors is of prime importance when engaging these resources.

Client
A leading biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts that delivers market-leading products in three therapeutic areas: oncology, cardiovascular, and inflammation.

Situation
Our client company was dissatisfied with its existing onsite staffing vendor that managed its contract workforce. Our mission was to develop a program which reflected our client’s core values and goals: to hire outstanding, qualified people capable of seamlessly integrating into an environment of collaboration, integrity and respect.

Solution & Results
Core2 Business Consulting deployed a team of three people to create a tailored Onsite Staffing Program, including a Program Manager, Program Coordinator and Recruiter. First orders of business were to integrate with their Human Resources staff, rebuild the trust of their hiring managers, create an efficient infrastructure for their contract workforce, and garner the interest and trust of staffing vendors.

With a keen focus on managing our client’s contractors, we created systems to ensure that they are supported and connected to the client organization. Our Program Team is responsible for conducting orientations and onboarding, activating IT/telecommunication systems and services, providing client policy information, facilitating performance reviews and pay increases, overseeing use of electronic timecards, implementing reward and recognition programs, and acting as their Human Resources contact.

For our client’s hiring managers and Human Resources group, our Program Team collaborates on employee relations issues, creates policies, manages contractor performance, provides contractor usage analysis reports, provides benchmarking data, and advises on classification of W-2 and 1099 employees.

Building relationships with our staffing vendors is of prime importance when engaging these resources. To motivate our vendors to recruit and deliver quality candidates to our client, we provide immediate feedback on candidate submissions, update them on their contractors’ performance, review each vendor’s performance, and guide them on best practices.

Renewed beyond the initial one-year commitment, the Core2 Program Team looks forward to developing program features that continue to build a strong and reliable contract workforce.

Client
Developer of a web-based financial community for individual investors to view news and share their sentiments about the financial market. Their online membership grew to over 800,000, and their daily number of page views reached 25 million.

Situation
Our client was on a blazing dot com track to build their engineering, quality assurance, and technology operation infrastructure teams. With no formalized in-house staffing expertise, they needed a structure that built speed and quality control into the process of recruiting. At the request of the VP of Engineering, we were tasked with creating a recruiting infrastructure for sourcing, interviewing and hiring candidates with exceptional skill and stamina.

Solution & Results
Core2 Business Consulting deployed the Program Director to the client’s site two to three days per week for 12 weeks in Phase I to implement a staffing methodology that would enable the VP of Engineering to build his team. By spearheading and streamlining internal communication and the recruitment process, partnering with providers, attracting the attention of desirable candidates in the market, and responding quickly to these candidates, we successfully hired 16 professionals of all levels in positions of software engineering, quality assurance, technical operations, systems administration, database administration, and web development. Phase II of recruiting commenced 60 days after the conclusion of Phase I, and lasted 12 weeks. We hired another 14 professionals in positions of technical writing, quality assurance, release engineering, development support, and program management.

Client
A world leader in instant imaging products such as cameras, film, scanners, printers and diagnostic imaging media.

Situation
In the face of intense competition and declining sales, our client’s Research and Development group was responsible for developing 20 to 30 new products that would reposition them back onto its leadership edge. They needed to staff up their web development, hardware and software engineering, and quality assurance groups quickly to get on with building new products. Their existing contract recruiter, supporting five functional groups, was neither experienced in handling high volume recruiting nor was he skilled in creating a new paradigm to ensure the execution of the strategic staffing plan.

Solution & Results
Core2 Business Consulting deployed the Program Director and one Program Coordinator to our client’s site three days per week for eight weeks to execute our Insourcing staffing program. Working closely with R&D’s Human Resources Manager and the division managers, we created a new model of staffing that existed separately from the Global Staffing Group. In our two-week ramp-up period, we spent time with each group learning about their objectives and new products, and identifying the attributes of the people we needed to hire. By optimizing existing systems and developing a new methodology that focused on speed, candidate quality and communication, we made eight hires in eight weeks and had several more in the loop when the program was terminated due to a significant corporate restructuring.
